Centre for Comparative Law is a research institute of the Law Faculty of Charles University in Prague. The Centre was founded in 2009. The research aim of the Centre is a systematic and comparative examination of civil and European law and its neighbouring fields. The inevitable part of its mission is an examination of the methodological principles for comparative law analysis. The Centre combines foundational research with applied research. Within the latter, the Centre assists in the application of law and preparation of law reform. Within its research focus, the Centre cooperates with scientific institutions in the European Union and beyond. It keeps close contacts with legal practice and its needs through an ongoing dialogue in the form of conferences, educational projects, and expert opinions.
